The 12 Apostles were Jesus Christ’s closest followers during his life. After his death, they continued to spread the gospel and teachings of Jesus throughout the world. They were Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, Judas the Greater and Judas Iscariot. The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles was established as a governing body in the Church of Jesus Christ after his death. They traveled around spreading the word of God and performing miracles to prove that Jesus was indeed the Son of God.
